Adam Hjerpe
Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer, Medica

Adam Hjerpe joined Medica as Senior Vice President
and Chief Operating Officer in August 2024. He leads
operational and transformation initiatives in
alignment with the organization’s overall vision,
strategy, and goals.
Before coming to Medica, Adam spent 20 years with
UnitedHealth Group, where he held progressive
leadership roles, including Optum Growth COO. He also spent over 10 years with General Electric —
working his way up from Call Center Representative to Vice President of Equipment Sales.
Adam is known for his positive attitude, humor, open communication style, and willingness to try new,
innovative approaches. His team of more than 800 Medica employees focuses on membership and
enrollment, claims, customer service, configuration, affordability, and program management functions.
He serves as Board Chair for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, which will be hosted in Minnesota.
Adam earned his Bachelor of Arts in Applied Business from the University of Minnesota and completed
the Wharton School Executive Education program. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
