The Excelsior Morning Rotary Club in partnership with the City of Excelsior is expanding the popular summer music series, “Concerts in the Commons”.

Since 2014, the City of Excelsior has organized four concerts each summer taking place in the bandshell at The Commons Park in Excelsior.

This year, the free concert series is expanding to eight concerts on Wednesday nights that will take place between May and September. Bands include: Chris Hawkey, Lamont Cranston and GB Leighton.
“These concerts bring people of all of ages from our community together,” said Charlie Kanan, President of the Excelsior Morning Rotary Club. “This fits with our mission as a club to support our local community.”

Through this partnership, the Rotary Club is leading the planning and fundraising for the Concerts in the Commons. Through sponsorships as well as food and beverage sales, money raised from the concerts will be earmarked to replace the current bandshell which was built in 1976.

“These concerts are a great way to bring the community together while raising funds to make much needed improvements in the park,” said Kanan.

The Excelsior Morning Rotary Club is a service-focused organization. One of their goals is to raise money so it can be given away. The club has 75 members ranging in age from 25-80.  Guests are always welcome to enjoy a free breakfast and learn more about the club at its weekly meeting on Wednesday’s at 7am at Maynards in Excelsior.
