Both Ross and Martie have served in leadership positions for many volunteer organizations over five decades. Ross served on the Minnetonka School Board for seven years, four as Board Chair.  He also served in leadership positions in Rotary (Club President and Assistant District Governor), Mount Calvary Lutheran Church (Church Council President and Foundation Chair) and the steamboat Minnehaha.

Martie served on the initial Minnesota Council for Gifted and Talented, the Minnetonka Community Services Advisory Council, and created and led the Junior Board of Directors at Minnetonka High School.  She was President of the Excelsior Area Chamber of Commerce for two years, and established the Chamber Ambassador program - a volunteer "greeter" program to welcome visitors to the Excelsior area.  In 2014, Martie was named the Chamber’s "Person of the Year."
