Members of the Lake Minnetonka Excelsior Morning Rotary Club (LMERC) presented members of the Excelsior-Lake Minnetonka Chamber Board of Directors with a record breaking donation to the 4th of July fireworks fund on June 15.
After an extremely successful 5th annual Bingo & Burgers by the Bay event on May 6, 2017, the Rotary club was able to donate $20,000 to help cover the costs associated with the annual fireworks display over Lake Minnetonka.  The cost of the fireworks goes above and beyond just the explosives - the Chamber takes on a large financial liability in order to put on the annual celebration by the lake. Additional costs for the event include insurance, permits, garbage, clean up, public safety, bathrooms, and much more.

The Chamber is so very thankful to the efforts put forth by local Rotarians, as Chamber President Bill Wolfson said, "This very special annual community event could not happen without the support of other local groups. This Rotary event has become the annual kick off to our summer season on the lake".   Dave Petroske, Rotarian and Chairperson of Bingo & Burgers by the Bay, enjoys bringing Rotary to the local community with this family tradition. He claims, "Our goal for this event is to drive business locally and showcase the incredible community we are located in".

The annual Lake Minnetonka 4th of July has been a tradition since 1888 at the Commons Park in Excelsior.  The Chamber took over the task of organizing this large scale event, free and open to the public, when the Excelsior Amusement Park closed.  This event is 100% community funded and staffed.
